As men age, they are ready, willing but unable to do the things they used to enjoy during their younger years.

Blame it on midlife crisis. That’s what “Dirty Old Musical (DOM)” is all about. The Spotlight Artists Center’s original Filipino musical opens on Sept. 1 at Music Museum in Greenhills and will run until Sept. 10 (ticketworld.com.ph).

It is playfully naughty and irreverent with a soundtrack of iconic OPM hits from the ’80s.

Headlined  by top-caliber actors Ricky Davao, John Arcilla, Nonie Buencamino, Michael Williams and Robert Seña. With their combined brilliance onstage, “DOM” could be the musical to end all musicals.

Just “DOM” it!

Here’s my tête-à-tête with Robert:

How do you deal with midlife crisis?

I feel like it’s the half time of my game… I assess the first half and do my best to correct whatever mistake I’ve done  and correct it in the second half.

How do you and your coactors in “DOM” manage not to upstage each other?

If you’re a veteran you already know that upstaging is only for weak actors.

How has your marriage with Isay Alvarez survived the test of time?

We are good friends to begin with, so love will always be there. That’s why the courtship  part always comes back. The most important thing is, we both agree that the Lord is the main reason why we’re together.

In what ways will “DOM” benefit the men who will watch it?

Aside from the lessons from the show, they will also go home singing the songs of our group, the Bench Boys.

What’s your fave scene  in “DOM”?

The exercise part, which is bound to surprise the audience.

What are your do’s and don’t’s while preparing for a show?

Warm up, and don’t forget to pray before and after the performance.

If you could only sing one song, what would it be?

“Smile.”

If your life story would be made into a play, what would the title be?

#Seña.
