“The BFG” is the first Disney film to be directed by the iconic Steven Spielberg. The movie version of Roald Dahl’s magical childhood stars Mark Rylance as the Big Friendly Giant and Ruby Barnhill as the orphan who befriends him and is swept away into a world of rampaging giants!

Meet the super villains

In David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad,” the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated super villains are assembled by the US government to defeat an enigmatic and all-powerful entity. They include Deadshot (Will Smith), the best marksman in the world; Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), a psychologist who treats the criminally insane; Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), who uses electrically charged boomerangs to deadly effect, and Slipknot (Adam Beach), a master in the use of elaborate ropes. Opens on Aug. 4.

After two “Star Trek” films in the director’s chair, JJ Abrams now transfers filmmaking duties for “Star Trek Beyond” to Justin Lin, a veteran of the “Fast and Furious” franchise. The new film takes the sci-fi adventure back to the far-flung reaches of the galaxy, and stars John Cho, Simon Peg, Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana.

The new “Ghostbusters” film by director Paul Feig has been digitally remastered into the immersive Imax 3D format and released to Philippine Imax theaters, simultaneous with its nationwide run in 2D and 3D cinemas. The film topbills Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth.
