WEENA PERPETUA, film enthusiast: “A promising entry in the Cinemalaya festival in August is the film adaptation of Rene Villanueva’s classic play, ‘Hiblang Abo,’ directed by Ralston Jover and featuring Lou Veloso, Nanding Josef, Jun Urbano and Leo Rialp. We laud Cinemalaya for offering films that could not have been realized in mainstream filmmaking.”

Jose Mari Maycacayan, marketing consultant: “I watched Lawrence Fajardo’s ‘Imbisibol’ at the French film fest and was impressed by its quality and relevance. I hope it wins best film and and cinematography at the Urian Awards. With his understated portrayal, JM de Guzman is a revelation in it.”
Tess Saavedra, office employee: “Kiray Celis is going places. Who would have thought that the pint-sized comedienne could be leading lady material—appearing opposite good-looking men like Derek Ramsay and Enchong Dee? Move over Pokwang and Melai. Kiray is on a roll!”
Alice Moya, housewife: “We don’t have to wait till December to watch the anticipated AlDub movie, ‘Imagine You and Me.’ Reportedly, it will be shown next month to mark the first anniversary of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards’ kalyeserye love team. It will be an acid test for the duo, to prove to their detractors that theirs is still a box-office tandem to reckon with. But, can they also pass muster as actors?”
Philip Asuncion, businessman: “Marvin Agustin has gone beyond acting: Aside from becoming successful in the restaurant business, he has also put up a school specializing in entrepreneurship. His projects prove how show biz folks can ‘diversify’ when acting offers dry up. Way to go!”
