ACTORS usually undergo what is called a “sensuality workshop” to put them at ease with each other, especially when they are required to do intimate scenes.

Well, not in the case of Heart Evangelista and Dennis Trillo, who are paired in the coming GMA 7 prime time series, “Juan Happy Love Story.”

“In the photo shoot, halikan agad! There was chemistry already,” Heart said. “After all, we have already worked together in a past project, so that helped. And besides, if you are an actor, you just have to do what you have to do,” the 31-year-old star said.

According to Heart, one of her career’s “most passionate” kissing scenes was with Dennis in “Juan.”

“Once we had to kiss while pushing each other. That is something new to me…and a bit awkward,” she said, laughing. “But Dennis is a gentleman and made me comfortable. He is also very mindful of the camera’s position; if he senses that it is not directly in front of us, he stops kissing me. And he does that even without me asking.”

Open-minded

Does her husband (Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero) have any qualms whatsoever?

“He knows the nature of my job and is open-minded. He is not the jealous type,” Heart answered.

Doing drama and crying onscreen all the time can be exhausting, Heart admitted. So every once in a while, she said, it is good be part of something lighthearted—like “Juan” (directed by LA Madrilejos)—for a much-needed breather.

“It is nice to do a show that is fun and entertaining, especially since life has been quite serious as of late,” said the GMA 7 artist whose husband is running for vice president in this year’s elections.

Naughty rom-com

In “Juan,” which she described as “a romance comedy that is at times naughty,” Heart takes on the role of Happy—a feisty, loyal and family-oriented woman who has yet to find “the one” among the number of boyfriends she has had in the past.

Heart said she will not stop working simply because she is now married.

“I believe in being productive, helping with the finances…a wife can opt to not just stay home,” stressed Heart, who is also a painter whose works have been exhibited locally and abroad.

While she is currently busy with acting, she makes it a point to find—or make—time for her painting. “I sleep late, around 4 a.m. And whenever I have time between taping days, I paint,” said Heart, dismissing bashers who insist that she is not the one who creates her artworks.

“I used to cry over the nasty comments. But over time you get immune and get used to it.”
