My thoughts on Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys joining the 11th season of The Voice

/ 12:01 AM April 05, 2016

Miley Cyrus gets a lot of flak for her shocking behavior and often outlandish antics but regardless of what she does, she gets an immediate reaction from people. In such a crowded music industry, especially when it comes to artists performing under the Pop banner, Miley Cyrus has proven that there is method to her madness. The bizarre part about it is that it works for her.

Everyone knows who Miley Cyrus is–whether for the good or bad she has provided us–more notorious of which are some of the most jaw-dropping performances and cringe-worthy moments in popular music history.

So what if Miley Cyrus can’t coach the contestants on how to sing properly? She can still be a terrific coach to them when it comes to the performance aspect. She certainly knows how to get attention, she knows how to rile up a crowd, and she is still one of the most talked about artists in the world. Just for those facts alone, yes, why ever not? Miley Cyrus becoming one of the two new coaches for The Voice would undoubtedly make for good television.

Having Miley Cyrus there… is like having a “combustible engine” on board… it would be unpredictable, to say the least, as to what she could say or do on the talent reality search show ? I also have a strong feeling that she may quickly be able to zone in on the budding singers who have a steely edge about them just by hearing the way they sing; on those who are not afraid to be a bit risque as her own wont; and who are quite similar to her mindset when it comes to performing.

FEATURED STORIES

She might just be able to put together the strongest team yet in terms of pulling off “attention-grabbing performances” that would either balance out or completely overshadow the singing. They could either turn off the viewers or inspire them in some way to root for her team. I just don’t see a middle ground here when it comes to Miley Cyrus being a coach. You either would sink or swim when she picks you to be a part of her team in the upcoming 11th season of The Voice.

Now when it comes to Alicia Keys… the reasons are entirely different as to why her becoming a coach for the 11th season of The Voice would be beneficial for the talent reality search show.

For one, Alicia Keys is such a talented singer. She is more than capable as an artist and that being the case, she would serve a vital and key role when it comes to guiding the contestants to the right direction when it comes to either enhancing the positive qualities they already have or in helping them discover their hidden potentials that could make them become better singers.

Secondly, Alicia Keys fits into the mold of the kind of artists that The Voice would typically employ since its very first season. She takes the role of the “classic mentor”–someone who is knowledgeable, level- headed and intelligent in giving sound advice as also one who is passionate when it comes to her music.

Clearly, Alicia Keys will fill in the technical aspect of coaching perfectly as she is more than qualified when it comes to this. The presence of Alicia Keys in The Voice will not only add more star power to the said talent reality search show but more importantly, it will give it more credibility because the coaches it will have are indeed some of the best artists today in the world.

Now, the polarity of the personalities that Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys will inadvertently project during the run of the said show will offer the viewers still another interesting dimension to it.

How Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys would interact with each other will be an altogether different aspect that viewers at home can look forward to in the 11th season of The Voice begins.
