Amid casting rumors for the 2016 remake, the head writer of the successful GMA fantasy series “Encantandia” has appealed to fans and supporters to give new talents a chance to shine and prove themselves.

In a series of tweets, Suzette Doctolero said she understands the public clamor to pitch in their preferred celebrities to reprise the lead roles played by actresses Iza Calzado, Karylle, Sunshine Dizon and Diana Zubiri more than a decade ago.

“Dear Encatadiks, alam ko kung gaano n’yo minahal ang mga sanggre. For most, they are your childhood heroes so I understand why may takot sa casting now,” Doctolero said.

“Casting wise, may tulong ‘pag kilala mga artista. Pero don’t you think maganda ring launching vehicle ito for other talents? If ever baguhan man ang makuha? For me it doesn’t matter ke sikat o not. Ang importante, magawa nilang buhayin ang mga character na minahal ng lahat,” she added.

Doctolero’s tweets came after a photo of Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, and newbie actress Sanya Lopez went viral on social media, with the actresses wearing dresses that matched the colors of the “brilyantes” (gemstones) of “Encantadia.” Actors Rocco Nacino and Ruru Madrid are also in the picture.

A report by the Philippine Entertainment Portal said “Starstruck 6” winners Klea Pineda and Migo Adecer were the only confirmed cast members of the remake as part of their prize in the talent reality show.

Meanwhile, GMA Network on Tuesday announced that actress Marian Rivera, who just came back to showbiz after giving birth to their baby Maria Letizia, will reprise the role of “Ynang Reyna” previously played by Dawn Zulueta.

Doctolero said viewers who followed the hit program 11 years ago should give the new “Encantadia” team a chance to “redefine another generation’s childhood.”

“I’m sure sino man ang mga maka-cast now, may takot at kaba din sila knowing they will be compared sa original,” Doctolero said.

“So sinuman sila, give them a chance to shine. Ke mapatayo o hindi, Encantadia will still be Encantadia sa puso ng lahat na nagmahal dito. ‘Yun lang ‘yun,” she added. YG/TVJ
