Netizens ‘heartbroken, devastated’ over Clark-Leah breakup in ‘OTWOL’

A few days before Hearts’ Day, Filipino netizens took to social media to express their disappointment, even grief, over the breakup of the characters of actors James Reid and Nadine Lustre in the hit ABS-CBN primetime series “On the Wings of Love” (OTWOL), which is down to its last three weeks on air.
OTWOL fans used the hashtag #OTWOLTheHeartbreak and #OTWOLHeartbroken in venting out their frustrations over the Feb. 10 episode of the program, which saw a heated confrontation between Clark (Reid) and his wife Leah (Lustre).
In Wednesday’s episode, Clark made Leah choose between him and a job in Dubai, which was offered by the character of actor Paulo Avelino.
Leah, whose father was terminally ill, chose her career over Clark.
Netizens claimed they cried after the confrontation scene.
“I cried so hard yesterday and most probably till the weekend I will cry pa more,” said Twitter user Bernadette Yap (@lakambini_yap14).
Twitter user @beabert20 said the breakup could have been more tolerable if it did not happen a few days before Valentine’s Day.
“Appetizer pa lang pala ‘yung kagabi? Sana lang ‘di tinaon ng Valentine’s,” she said.
The breakup episode affected emotional viewers and its loyal following, with Twitter users claiming that it disrupted their day-to-day activities.

Program director Antoinette Jadaone quoted a netizen who said he did not have the motivation to go to the gym following the breakup.
“’Kailangan ko mag-gym mars, pero di ako makabangon. Break na si Clark at si Leah…’ Teh, ikaw ba ang brineakan?!” Jadaone tweeted.
“Paano ang magtatrabaho ngayon kung ang isip at puso ko ay OTWOL! Serously, hindi pa ko nakaka-move on!” said Twitter user Cess Malaluan (@malaluancess).
Some netizens, who apparently became love experts in their own right, took sides while others sympathized to both Clark and Leah.
“Hindi pa siguro nila na-experience magkautang at mangutang na may interest. Lucky them,” @sasadoll15 said.
“Try reading between the lines. Sorry may mga nagawang mali si Leah, pero si Clark di siya perpekto. Di n’yo lang nakikita,” @thosecitylight tweeted.
To the relief of some, behind-the-scene photos of Reid fixing Lustre’s hair while the latter was preparing for their scene surfaced online. YG
