Pia Wurtzbach on rumored romantic links to Aquino: ‘That’s funny’

Once and for all, reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo-Wurtzbach has denied rumors that she was romantically linked to President Benigno Aquino III, a topic that has been recently brought up in one of her radio interviews in New York.

“No, that’s so funny,” the beauty queen said in an interview with 95.5 PLJ when asked if she was dating the Philippine President.
Wurtzbach said he met Aquino “in a few social occasions” when she was writing for the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s lifestyle section as a contributor.

“I met him because I was a contributing writer for a lifestyle section of a newspaper in the Philippines, so I met him in a few social occasions sometimes,” she said.
When Wurtzbach was asked if there was nothing more in those meetings, the 2015 Miss Universe answered in the affirmative.
“He’s a bachelor, that’s why,” she added, laughing off a remark by an anchor that she could be “sliding from Miss Universe to first lady.”
In an interview with “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” last March, Wurtzbach said the country’s chief executive was “very fun to talk to” when asked by presidential sister Kris Aquino if the two of them were dating.

However, recently, the younger Aquino said she did not think Wurtzbach liked her brother.

Furthermore, Wurtzbach admitted that she had asked the President to wish her good luck in the international pageant as he did with Bea Rose Santiago, who was crowned Miss International in 2013.

The beauty queen, however, confirmed that she was single when asked about the attention she has been getting from men in touring New York.
“I haven’t been approached by anybody. I am single,” she said. YG/RAM
