#ALDubEBTamangPanahon breaks Twitter records anew with 26M tweets

The phenomenal “AlDub” love team of actor Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza or “Yaya Dub” shattered worldwide Twitter records again as the hashtag for its “Sa Tamang Panahon” event at Philippine Arena in Bulacan exceeded the 26-million mark on Saturday afternoon.

As of 4:14 p.m., the hashtag #ALDubEBTamangPanahon garnered 26,001,300 tweets, according to the “AlDub nation’s” (fan base) official statisticians, Twitter users @ineffable and @pagkalagaan. “Alden” is also the top trending topic in the Philippines with about 804,000 tweets as of writing.

“Eat Bulaga” beat its previous record set in September when Richards and Mendoza had their second date, where the hashtag “#ALDubEBforLove” scored 25.6 million tweets in a span of 24 hours.

In the middle of Saturday’s episode, Twitter vice president for Asia Pacific and Middle East Media Rishi Jaitly greeted AlDub fans and congratulated the show for its online feat in a taped message.

During the show at the 55,000-seater arena, Richards and Mendoza sang the love anthem “God Gave Me You,” held hands, hugged, and danced to a romantic tune to the delight of thousands of emotional fans who trooped to the venue as early as Saturday morning.

Tickets for the show, which ranged from P150 to P1,200, were sold out only two days after it was announced during the noontime show’s airing last week. YG/RC
