The rivalry among Youthful Tandems has taken a nasty turn.
Although YT1 is currently doing well, the pair’s successes were kept under wraps by the Big Bosses.
Instead of celebrating, the BBs are getting antsy. Seems the BBs are reluctant to let YT1 shine because they don’t want YT2’s handlers to get upset.
Alas, YT1 has clearly defeated YT2.
YT2’s supporters are quite vociferous and would not take their bets’ defeat sitting down. YT1’s camp is combative as well.
Competition rears its ugly head once again.
Comeuppance
Speaking of which, Influential Insider got served the ultimate comeuppance.
A few years ago, II sabotaged Dazzling Personality’s career, in order to boost Noisy Celeb’s prospects. The incessant mudslinging cost DP a lucrative deal that eventually landed on NC’s lap.
Fast forward to the here and now. NC got clobbered by Hot Newbies who are from the same team as DP.
What goes around comes around.
Pulp friction
Controversial Celeb has made a career of spewing out all sorts of lies.
CC once claimed that Pugnacious Partner was physically and emotionally abusive. Relatives now suspect CC made up the sob story. But then again CC’s illusions have seeped into real life.
The web of half-truths got so entangled that CC could no longer tell the difference between fact and fiction.
Playful
Critics insist that Pretty Starlet desperately needs to work on her acting skills.
Well, PS was often distracted on the set. Instead of honing her craft or listening to the director, PS would rather flirt with Handsome Costar.
No wonder PS’ performance in her most recent project was lackluster.
The P in PS could also stand for Playgirl.
Swing-out sis

ES made it a point to be the last to arrive on the set—after NN, VC and GB. Staffers often complained that ES was demanding, finicky and unpredictable, too.
On good days, ES was sweet and charming. But on bad days, ES was bratty, a holy terror.
ES’ mood swings left the cast and crew dizzy.
Song for QC
Veteran singer Anthony Castelo has composed and recorded a song that pays tribute to Quezon City.
“Except for the time I stayed briefly in the United States, I have never lived anywhere else,” Castelo relates.
Castelo’s love for the city has inspired him to write the song, “Enjoy sa QC,’” which is being released in time for the closing of the 75th anniversary of the city’s foundation this month. Castelo presented the recording recently to House Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte and Mayor Herbert Bautista.
Castelo, former city councilor, grew up in the Morato-Timog area, which was known as Sampaloc Avenue in the 1960s because the stretch was lined with tamarind trees, he recalls.
Castelo’s grandfather, lawyer Oscar Castelo, was appointed by President Sergio Osmeña as city mayor in 1945 after the Second World War. His father, lawyer Milo Castelo, was the city’s police chief.
Famous for hits like “Balatkayo” and “Hahanapin Ko,” Castelo attended schools in Quezon City: St. Joseph’s College, Trinity College (or Capitol City College), and University of the Philippines.
Expo in the Middle East
The Middle East’s biggest Filipino exhibit will be held on Oct. 30 and 31 at the Great Ballroom of the Le Meridien Hotel Garboud in United Arab Emirates as The Filipino Channel (TFC) brings together financial experts and top singers via “Buhay, Kabuhayan at Iba Pa.”
The exhibit will showcase Philippine products and services (related to finance and investment) and Pinoy culture and skill. Among the speakers are author Francis Colayco, financial literacy advocate Armand Bengco and TV host Salve Duplito (ABS-CBN News Channel’s “On the Money”).
Also performing at the event are singers Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto on Oct. 31.

MMFF New Wave deadline
Filmmakers have until Oct. 26 to submit their entries in the animation and full feature categories of this year’s New Wave section of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
A prelude to the annual mainstream MMFF, the New Wave section, introduced in 2010 by former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair Francis Tolentino (who was chair of the MMFF), will provide independent filmmakers and film students a platform to exhibit their works.
“These independent movies represent the ideals and aspirations of the youth … the future of Philippine cinema,” Tolentino said. The full feature category is open to all independent production outfits with movies done in 2014 onwards.
Entries should not have been featured in other local and international festivals and must have a total running time of 75 minutes.
Best picture in the full feature category will receive a cash prize of P300,000, while the Special Jury Prize will be awarded P200,000. P50,000 each will go to the best actress, actor and director winners. For the first time, best supporting actress and actor winners will be selected and will receive P25,000 each.
Meanwhile, entries in the animation category must have a maximum total running time of 12 minutes and completed from 2014 onwards. Best picture in the animation section will get P100,000 cash prize and P50,000 for the Special Jury Prize winner.
Entries in all categories may be submitted personally or through mail to the MMFF Secretariat at the MMFF Cinema Building, Edsa corner Orense Street, Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati City. For inquiries, e-mail the secretariat at mmff.newwave @gmail.com.
Finalists in the New Wave section will be shown from Dec. 17 to 24 at Glorietta 4 and SM Cinemas. The MMFF is organized primarily to help promote and enhance the preservation, growth and development of the local film industry.
