Joey de Leon reacts to Lea Salonga’s ‘shallowness’ tweet

“Eat Bulaga” mainstay Joey de Leon posted a series of tweets reacting to the controversial tweet of actress and Broadway star Lea Salonga posted last Saturday.

Salonga’s tweet, which read: “Okay lang sa akin ang kababawan, pero hanggang doon na lamang ba tayo? #NagtatanongLangPo” drew strong reaction from netizens. Some even interpreted it as an allusion to the hit love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.

The actress has since explained that she was not pertaining to the “AlDub” love team.

De Leon addressed Salonga’s tweet on his Twitter account.

The “Eat Bulaga” host said: “Hindi naman pala daw AlDub pinatatamaan ni Lea. Baka naman yung kabila? Nagtatanong lang po.”

He added: “Baka naman yung tuwit ni Lea “in General” kaya kay General na lang sya magpaluwanag.”

De Leon asked his followers on their opinion about celebrities who do have not latched on the AlDub phenomenon like Salonga.

“Ano masasabi nyo sa mga taga-shobiz na nagsasabi na HINDI sila pamilyar sa Aldub? Nagse-survey lang po. #ALDUBandPROUD,” he said.

Meanwhile, de Leon also slammed critics who are saying that the AlDub phenomenon is shallow:

“Mga tao sa labas at nagsasaya huwag mong ihusga kung nasa lungga ka! Sa lungga ka na lang at di mo sila kilala! #ALDUBThisMustBeLove.”
