Comedy Cebu presents Ron Josol and various global Filipino acts!
Comedy Cebu, the only Filipino and international point-of-view stand-up comedy group in Cebu, will be bringing some of the funniest international Pinoy stand-up comedians from around the world this August 6-7, 2015 to Cebu City!
The observational comedy group has been providing Cebu world-class comedy entertainment with its experienced performers in the art of stand-up comedy since January this year, with performers using humor based on life experiences, social trends, human observation- a fresh and equally enjoyable alternative to the insult/drag/gay comedy scene which is hugely popular in other Filipino comedy clubs and shows.
In the upcoming events this August, Comedy Cebu will not only bring observational stand-up comedy closer and more available to the Cebu community, but will also participate in the 7th annual and national Cinema Rehiyon 7 Film Festival, which is Cebu City’s privilege to host this year.
CINEMA REHIYON 7
Cebu City, along with the Visayan arm of the National Committee on Cinema, is officially the host of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts-Cinema Committee’s flagship event on its 7th year, a festival that will showcase 67 films from all over the country from August 6-9. With the theme, “At the Crossroads of the Seventh Art,” Cinema Rehiyon 7 aims to showcase the best regional films from across the archipelago, to contribute to the development of strategic direction for nurturing the local film industry and to establish Cebu’s position among the national and international film community.

Ron Josol will be headlining both shows on August 6-7. A Fil-Canadian stand-up comic whose heritage is proudly Cebuano, Josol has been described as the “young vet or the old kid” of the international comedy scene. He is known for mixing classic stand up with today’s current voice. He combines one-liners with an honest story telling presentation which makes him one the hottest and vibrant acts today. He performs regularly in the UK, Scandinavia, Caribbean, Asia, Middle East, Australia, Central America and the US. He has taped various specials in Canada, Show Time Arabia, and Show Time USA. His recent TV appearances are on “Gotham Comedy Live” in New York, “Last Call with Carson Daly” on NBC and “Comics Unleashed”.
The shows will also include other Pinoy movers and shakers in the international comedy scene. JUSTIN RIVERA is a Fil-Am professional magician and comedian, who has performed extensively on several television shows and on stage at clubs and events around the US. He competed on NBC’s America’s Got Talent and was named a judges’ favorite. Comedy.HK’s founder and Fil-Am stand-up comedian/promoter CHRIS MUSNI will also be visiting from Hongkong to join Comedy Cebu for the shows. ALEX CALLEJA and GB LABRADOR, both comedy writers for ABS-CBN and headliners from Comedy Manila, are just back from a successful Asian comedy tour and will be returning to Cebu to showcase their unique comic talent and wit on Comedy Cebu stage once again.
“PANAGTAGBO” at The Monastery
On August 6th, Thursday, Comedy Cebu will be joining other performers for the celebration of Cinema Rehiyon Film Festival 7 at The Monastery. “Comedy Cebu is, of course, thrilled and proud to be part of the celebration of Cinema Rehiyon 7 Film Festival”, said Iris Montesclaros, Comedy Cebu’s executive producer. Comedy Cebu will be performing at the “Panagtagbo”, the welcome party to be hosted by Cebu City for the film festival’s delegates and enthusiasts on its first night, August 6, which will be held at The Monastery, 976 Veteran’s Drive (near Nivel Hills), Lahug, Cebu City. Program will start at 9PM; admission is free.
LAUGHING GAS #4 at Crown Regency Fuente; special price for students
The talented and hilarious guest comedians of Comedy Cebu will also be performing at LAUGHING GAS #4 International Stand-Up Comedy Show which will be staged at the Fifties Cafe, 21st flr. Crown Regency-Club Ultima, Fuente Tower 2, Osmena Blvd., Cebu City, on August 7th, Friday, 9PM, for their second show. The event will be open to both hotel guests and outsiders.
LAUGHING GAS #4’s tickets are already available for reservation at 250php per ticket which already includes a free drink. Students and Crown Regency Hotel’s checked-in guests may avail discounted tickets at 150php only by presenting their school ID and proof of stay, respectively. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night of the event.
