WATCH: Lea Salonga serenades audience at launch of watch collection

/ 05:15 PM July 14, 2015

As though her accomplishments as a stage performer, actress and “Voice” coach are not yet impressive enough, Lea Salonga recently added “watch designer” to her already outstanding resume.

The Tony award winner and the original Miss Saigon officially launched last week the Philip Stein Legacy Collection which she co-created.

“I have never done anything like this before… it’s really pretty,” the “Voice of the Philippines” coach said of the watch she was wearing during an exclusive dinner at The Peninsula Manila last Wednesday.

Flaunting the limited edition timepiece, Salonga serenaded the audience with favorites such as Defying Gravity, When You Believe, Go The Distance and Journey.

“Being right here, being on the stage, on this spot… it takes many, many steps and many people, to get here, and I feel incredibly fortunate that I’m standing here,” Salonga said.

According to Will Stein, co-founder and president of Philip Stein, Salonga epitomizes the brand’s DNA of living life with passion and perfection while achieving balance in wellbeing.

“Naming the collection was easy. Lea is synonymous to what a legacy stands for,” Stein said of the global Filipino star.

“I thought about what I want my epitaph so say: She gave her best and she hopes that that was enough,” Salonga said in between her performances. “I just want to be the best of what it is that I do.”

The new Legacy Collection watches come in stainless steel oval cases and mineral crystal glass with sapphire coating. The timepieces range from P39,900 to P57,900.
