Closeness between PBB boys Kenzo, Bailey sends netizens abuzz
The seemingly close rapport between two male housemates in this year’s edition of Pinoy Big Brother 737 (PBB 737) got netizens thinking what is the real score between them.
The bond between 18-year-old Karlo Lorenzo “Kenzo” Gutierrez and 12-year-old Bailey Thomas May inside the Big Brother house has tickled the imagination of the show’s viewers after photos of the two holding hands and hugging went viral online.
Some Twitter users insinuated that a romantic relationship has formed between the two, thus the popularity of the hashtags #KenLey and #Bazo.
PBB resident psychologist Dr. Randy Dellosa clarified on Saturday that the closeness of the two males housemates should not be misconstrued as a romantic relationship but should be considered as “brotherly love, a deep friendship between two males.”
“The housemates get lonely and they want to get the affection from each other so that they can support each other. So that’s one reason why they become touchy and emotional,” Dellosa said in an interview posted on the show’s website.
Asked on the averse reactions from netizens on the “bromance” of Gutierrez and May, Dellosa said that viewers should understand the changing “gender expectations” in today’s society.
“In the past, men should act tough, rough and emotionless. Now, we have to be in touch with both our male and female sides,” he added.
Gutierrez is the “Astig Athlete ng Quezon City” while May is the “Global Guwapito ng UK.”
The 12-year-old Fil-Brit is one of the two nominees who are in danger of being evicted from the reality show.
