After wedding, Monique Wilson thanks well-wishers
Theatre actress and women’s rights activist Monique Wilson, who recently had her wedding in London, said she was “moved and grateful for the outpouring of love, support and friendship.”
“To every single one who has been on this 17-year journey with us: Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” Wilson posted on her Instagram account.
On June 14, Wilson, who admitted in 2012 that she was a lesbian, married her partner Rossana Abueva at Notting Hill in West London.
Abueva is a banker and the executive director for global product management of Standard Chartered in Singapore.
Wilson said she and her partner were grateful that they were able to get “full marriage equality” in London, something she said should also be afforded in the Philippines.
“We are grateful, that last week, we were able to get full marriage equality and we only hope that all people in the Philippines will be afforded these same rights,” she said.
It was in 2014 when the United Kingdom (UK) enacted a law legalizing same-sex marriage.
