Irritatingly ‘recidivist’ development

Currently, the most unproductive “development” on a TV show can be frustratingly found on “Pari ‘Koy.” Weeks ago, Sunshine Dizon’s lout and louse of a husband was almost put in jail after he stole the expensive crown of Chanda Romero’s life-size statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Only the desperate pleadings of Sunshine, resident priest Dingdong Dantes and other forgiving folks saved him from a long stint in prison, and the thief was very grateful!

After that, everyone expected that his outlook on life would change, his substory could be concluded and the series could more productively pay attention to new characters and their instructive issues and problems.

—But, here it is, a month after that upbeat resolution, and what do we see? The goony guy is at it again, beating his wife, terrorizing his little children, still committing crimes and generally acting as the series’ resident black sheep!

Versatility, range

This is such a drag, particularly since the actor playing the recidivist has no versatility and range to speak of, and just keeps shouting, hitting people, getting drunk and scaring everybody around.

This is such a redundant waste of valuable TV time. Kick the guy out permanently and focus on other, more productive conflicts, why don’t you?

For her part, Sunshine has been disappointing her fans here with her similarly repetitive bleats, cries and protestations of innocence. After weeks of unrelieved masochism and sadism like this, even Sunshine should pipe down.

Instructive drama series

This is really too bad, because “Pari ‘Koy” has otherwise emerged as the local TV screen’s most consistently eventful and instructive drama series.

Only recently, it was revealed that Dingdong’s character had had a girlfriend, Michelle (Carla Abellana), who’s reappeared after a number of years to complicate his life and prospects.

Even more recently, it was further revealed that she had had a love child! —Now, that’s eventful, right? It opens up so many additional possibilities, and will surely keep viewers watching the show.

It’s just too bad that the series’ recidivist “nondevelopments” are depleting this key advantage. —Enough.
