Gerald-Maja split, but on good terms

Actor Gerald Anderson last week confirmed his breakup with girlfriend Maja Salvador, and asked the media to “respect our privacy and let us recover first.”
“What we’re going through is no joke,” Gerald pointed out. “Yes, we’re taking a break from our relationship, but we’re okay. We’re on very good terms.”
Gerald and Maja were last seen together in ABS-CBN’s holiday special, “Give Love on Christmas Day: The Gift of Life.”
“We’re taking things step by step. We’re doing this together,” Gerald said of their decision to break up. “I just want to say thank you to our fans, who were always there for us, as well as to our friends and families.”
Real reason
Gerald refused to reveal the reason for the split.
Asked whether it had something to do with time spent away from each other because of work, the actor said: “I don’t want to go into details… Of course I feel bad, but this is all I’m going to say about [the issue]. I ask everyone to please respect her (Maja).”
Maja reconciled with former best friend Kim Chiu in May 2014, a year after their highly publicized tiff over Gerald, who is Kim’s ex-boyfriend. “I prayed hard for it,” Maja told the
Inquirer in an interview in May 2014. She added that she was the first to reach out to Kim.
At the press conference of his latest drama series “Nathaniel,” Gerald said he always prays “for guidance, strength and protection” before he goes to work.
Fatherhood
In “Nathaniel,” Gerald plays Paul, a young dad who loses his newborn son in a car accident.
While he is “excited” about the prospect of having his own child, Gerald said he would still have to prepare for it emotionally. “I don’t think I’ll be ready for it until I turn 30. Fatherhood is a very big responsibility,” the 25-year-old actor pointed out.
Gerald will also work closely with former GMA 7 talent Isabelle Daza, who will play the scheming Martha, Paul’s girlfriend. “Belle is very cool to be with—she’s one of the boys,” he said.
“Nathaniel,” directed by Darnel Joy R. Villaflor and Francis Xavier Pasion, starts airing tonight.
