Heavy-hitting int’l bands to rock PULP Summer Slam XV

Seven international metal bands banner Southeast Asia’s biggest and longest-running metal festival

MANILA, Philippines—The line-up for the 15th installment of Southeast Asia’s biggest and longest-running metal festival is out! Red Horse Beer and PULP Live World proudly announce that Killswitch Engage, Cradle of Filth, Escape the Fate, The Word Alive, Carcass, Chthonic, and Suffocation will rock The Amoranto Stadium on the 25th of April during the “PULP Summer Slam XV: Angels Descend!”

PULP continues its tradition of bringing the most prominent and versatile mix of international metal bands to the Philippine shores.

Headliners Killswitch Engage is widely considered as a forerunner of metalcore and one of the most prominent names in the New Wave of American Metal. The group is returning to Manila almost two years after its first solo show was held last July 13, 2013 at SM Skydome.

Cradle of Filth is an extreme metal band from England whose musical style has evolved from black metal to a cleaner amalgam of gothic and symphonic metal lyrically influenced by gothic literature, classic poetry, mythology, and horror films.

Sure to pique the interest of kids who are slowly leaning towards heavy rock music are Escape the Fate and The Word Alive. The former, Escape the Fate, is an American post-hardcore band who topped the Billboard Hard Rock charts in 2010 and has sold over a million records worldwide. Arizona-based metalcore band The Word Alive has constantly penetrated the Billboard charts with every release it has made.

Carcass, formed in 1985, is one of the pioneers of brutal and extreme death metal. The group disbanded in 1996, reunited in 2007 as a touring band, and then surprised the metal world in 2013 with a comeback album titled “Surgical Steel,” which was selected as “Album of the Year” by several of the world’s most credible metal magazines and websites.

Chthonic is a Taiwanese metal band that incorporates traditional Taiwanese instruments in its music. The band’s battle cry is to relive its ancient history and mythology in the modern era to address national issues the members feel strongly about.

Suffocation is a New York-based death metal band credited as one of the bands that created the blueprint for death metal in the ‘90s.

Completing this year’s line-up is a roster of the best Filipino rock bands: Greyhoundz, Slapshock, Queso, Kjwan, Wilabaliw, Nobela, Razorback, and the Red Horse Beer People’s Choice Band.
