Jay-R wins again on ‘Your Face Sounds Familiar’ as Kenny Rogers

Singer Jay-R on Sunday seized his second win on ABS-CBN’s reality show “Your Face Sounds Familiar” where celebrities impersonate iconic singers.
The R&B artist gave an impressive performance as country legend Kenny Rogers singing the ’80s duet “Islands in the Stream” with actress Karla Estrada who imitated singer Dolly Parton.
The three judges of the show—noted performers Jed Madela, Sharon Cuneta and Gary Valenciano—all chimed “Amazing!” in unison after the duo’s performance.
“You didn’t know the song well, but you sang it like you knew it,” Gary told Jay-R.
Jed was also impressed with the act, saying he felt shipped back in time seeing the two “icons” perform.
Meanwhile, another celebrity contestant Jolina Magdangal stretched her vocal chords when she sang the Aegis song “Sinta” with partner Nyoy Volante.
Jolina was the second top scorer on the duets episode, a notch lower after her first win last week as “Cher.”

In an interview, Jolina said she was thankful for the show for giving her the opportunity to sing a song by the Aegis band.
“Masaya ako na nakanta ko siya ng maayos kasi feeling ko ang Aegis, bosesan talaga ‘yon eh (I’m glad I was able to sing it well because I feel singing Aegis can really stretch your voice to its limits),” she told Inquirer.net.
“’Yon ’yong iconic sa kanila (That’s what’s iconic about them).”
Jolina also called coparticipants Jay-R, Melai Cantiveros and Nyoy the show’s excellent competitors. RC
