‘Glee’ star Darren Criss is new ‘Hedwig’ in Broadway musical
MANILA, Philippines–“Glee” star Darren Criss is set to don stockings and high heels as he takes on the eponymous role in the Broadway musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”
The Fil-American actor announced the news through a video on his Facebook account.
“I’m the new Berlin wall, baby!” Criss said.
For twelve weeks starting April 19, Criss will play the role of transgender Hedwig Robinson, a front man of a rock and roll band in the hit musical.
Criss is no stranger to the Broadway after he succeeded “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” in 2012.
He will be the fifth artist to take on the role of Hedwig. “How I Met Your Mother” star and Tony awardee Neil Patrick Harris took the lead role in the musical’s revival. AJH
