Heart’s pa to Chiz: ‘Love her unconditionally’
MANILA, Philippines – Tears were shed by actress Heart Evangelista after she heard her father’s message for her during her wedding reception held at the exclusive Balesin Island in Quezon province Sunday night.
The letter from Reynaldo Ongpauco was read by a cousin of the actress, according to a report by GMA News.
Heart’s parents did not show up at their daughter’s wedding. In the letter, Ongpauco said: “My only wish is to see you both happy.”
Ongpauco also explained why they have to skip the wedding.
“Alam mo anak, gustong-gusto kitang ihatid sa altar. Sino ba naman ang ama na ayaw makita ang kanyang anak sa pinaka-importanteng araw ng buhay niya? (I really wanted to walk you down the altar. I don’t know any father who doesn’t want to see his daughter during the most important day of her life.) But a lot of things has happened that hinder us from going,” Ongpauco said.
He also asked his daughter’s husband, Senator Chiz Escudero, to love Heart “unconditionally.”
“Sana Chiz, mahalin mo nang buo ang anak namin. Accept everything about her. Take care of her and love her unconditionally, just like her mom and I loved her unconditionally,” he said.
Heart’s father promised that he will “come knocking” at her daughter’s door once he sees the couple to be “truly happy.”
“This is my promise—when the day comes that I see both of you truly happy, when I see Chiz loving you the way you deserve to be loved, I will come knocking at your door,” he ended. AJH
