MMFF 2014: A quick guide to the 8 competing entries

MANILA, Philippines— Eight official entries will compete in the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

What are these films that moviegoers should look forward to watching this holiday season? Here’s the list:

• Bonifacio, Ang Unang Pangulo— A reunion film for the ex-onscreen couple Robin Padilla and Vina Morales, Padilla plays the titular character Andres Bonifacio while Morales portrays the revolutionary hero’s second wife Gregoria de Jesus. The historical drama-action film was directed by Enzo Williams.

• English Only Please—A romantic comedy film starring Jennylyn Mercado and Derek Ramsey. Directed by Dan Villegas.

• Feng Shui 2 —A sequel of the blockbuster movie first released in 2004 starring Kris Aquino and Coco Martin. The horror film, directed by Chito Rono, is Star Cinema’s official entry to the 2014 MMFF.

• Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles: This comedy horror action film is a sequel to the 2012 film Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles. The film, starring Dingdong Dantes and Isabelle Daza, was directed by Erik Matti.

• Muslim Magnum .357 (To serve and To Protect)— An action film starring ER Ejercito and Sam Pinto. Directed by Jun Posadas.

• My Big Bossing— The movie is a sequel to the 2013 movie My Little Bossings. The comedy anthology film, starring Vic Sotto and Ryzza Mae Dizon was directed by Joyce Bernal, Marlon Rivera, and Tony Reyes.

• The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin 2— A sequel of the filmThe Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin starring Vice Ganda. Also in the cast are Daniel Padilla, Julia Barretto, Richard Yap, Alex Gonzaga and James “Bimby” Yap. The action comedy film was directed by Wenn Deramas.

• Shake, Rattle, and Roll XV—The movie is a horror anthology film starring Dennis Trillo, Carla Abellana, JC de Vera, Lovie Poe, erich Gonzales and Matteo Guidicelli. The film was directed by Dondon Santos, Jerrold Tarog, and Perci Intalan.
