Earlier reports said SM would show “The Last” starting December 17 and would run for a week to make way for the Metro Manila Film Festival.

“We regret to inform you that due to some technical concerns on the film content, ‘Naruto’ has been moved from December playdate to January 2015,” SM Cinemas posted on its official Twitter account on December 8.

“We’ll inform you once we have the final schedule. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

“The Last” would cover chapters 699 and 700, the last two chapters of the manga series, with Pioneer Films (Movie Punch) locally distributing the film.

Naruto, the manga, ended its run on November 10 which saw the characters all grown up with families of their own and with Naruto fulfilling his dream of becoming Hokage, the chief of the Leaf Village.
