KC makes an effort to stay fit

Marie Sunga, film enthusiast: “It isn’t Halloween season yet, but, there are two local horror films that are scheduled for release in commercial theaters this month: Wenn Deramas’ ‘Maria Leonora Teresa,’ about a doll inspired by the popular Guy and Pip doll in the ’70s, and ‘Dementia,’ the Nora Aunor starrer helmed by first-time director Percival Intalan.
“With Deramas behind it, ‘MLT’ is expected to do well at the tills. But, here’s hoping that ‘Dementia’ will also make money, because Aunor needs a hit to make her ‘comeback’ more meaningful. It will also inspire the actress to make more movies.”
Jose Mari Maycacayan: “Among current TV shows, I commend ‘Shoptalk,’ ‘I Juander’ and ‘Ipaglaban Mo,’ because they not only care about the future of Filipinos, they also encourage entrepreneurship. Also, I hope to see Boots Anson-Roa in another experimental drama, like ‘Ako, Babae.’”
Julie Daguman, housewife: “Karen Davila and Jessica Soho exude sincerity and fairness. They’re so unlike other anchors whose vested interests you can almost smell. But, Davila should take good care of her voice, because its hoarseness isn’t pleasing to the ears.”
Liza Mendez, student: “It’s wonderful to watch Joel Torre, Mylene Dizon, Rio Locsin and Noni Buencamino in ‘Ikaw Lamang.’ Recently, I saw Joel in a scene where he did not utter a single word—but, he was still effective in conveying great sorrow!”
Armi Visenio, televiewer: “In June, I wrote about Vice Ganda’s inappropriate demeanor and unceasing use of ‘double meanings’ in this section. I am glad that, after more than two months, the MTRCB has finally taken action.”
