Bombay Bicycle Club is coming to Manila
MANILA, Philippines–Karpos Multimedia will take you on a ride as it presents the English indie rock quartet Bombay Bicycle Club (BBC), headlining their first show in Manila in a can’t-miss concert experience slated July 23 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Jack Steadman (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Jamie MacColl (guitar), Suren de Saram (drums) and Ed Nash (bass) have proven that age doesn’t matter when you’ve got the talent as they bring music that’s ahead of their time – already with three consecutive top 10 albums, one UK Albums Chart Number One, and no one from the band being older than 24.
The four grew up in North London, and one of their earliest notable achievements was being one of the two winners of Virgin Mobile’s “Road to V” competition in 2006, beating 14 other bands, when they were only 15 years of age. After secondary school, they signed a deal with Island Records to release future singles and albums with the record label.
They released their debut album, I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose, in 2009. Their second album, Flaws, in 2010, saw an unexpected change of direction: folky, acoustic and full of sweet harmonies, it was nominated for the Ivor Novello for Best Album. A Different Kind of Fix, arrived in 2011, being their third album release.
Their current album, So Long See You Tomorrow, has gained critical acclaim, and has taken the Number One spot in the UK Albums Chart. The record was described as “flowing seamlessly through a range of sonic landscapes that coalesce into a coherent whole.”
Filipino concert goers will definitely have a lot to look forward to, as BBC’s four albums play like a tour through a combination of influences: Jumpy post-punk guitar rock, acoustic indie folk, electronic pop, and Afro-Beat informed dance music all contribute to the band’s overall sound.
Bombay Bicycle Club fans will surely have their earful of the foursome’s signature sounds, with songs like “Evening/Morning”, “Always Like This”, “How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep”, “Shuffle” as well as tunes from their latest album, “Carry Me”, “Luna” and “Feel”.
