MANILA, Philippines–The SMX Convention Center of the SM Mall of Asia Complex became a motion picture haven when the third International Film Expo (IFX) happened from June 27 to  29.

For three days, filmmakers, producers, actors, enthusiasts, and aspirants gathered at the convention center to visit booths of participating Asean countries–Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam. But companies from the local film industry also had their share of the pie.

Through a dialogue with every interested party, these exhibitors were given the opportunity to showcase their film produce as well as their motion picture production cultures which differ from our own.

Various equipment for stereoscopic production were also exhibited during the IFX 2014.

Open market

But apart from the exhibit of products and technology, what’s more to the IFX 2014 were the conferences scheduled each day of the trade show. These symposiums always serve as a meeting point for both forerunners and neophytes in the local and international film and movie production scene.

This, exactly, is what the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) endeavours – to promote the country as well as the key players of its continuously emerging film industry.

Moreover, seminars during the expo covered a wide array of topics which ranged from trends in film education in a changing media landscape to films and video commercials in the Philippines to world class filming equipment, and even voice acting for animation, gaming and film.

The International Film Expo is an annual conference organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
