PH’s biggest metal festival is just around the corner

09:00 AM April 14, 2014

MANILA, Philippines – PULP SUMMER SLAM is the longest running and largest annual metal festival in Southeast Asia. Now on its 14th year, PULP SUMMER SLAM 14 has seven top international heavy metal bands coming in for the single day festival, which typically runs 15 hours from the opening of gates at noon to the close of the festival a few hours after midnight. This will be the 12th year it has been held at the historic Amoranto Stadium in Quezon City, Metro Manila.

This year the festival is co-headlined by two gigantic acts from the United Kingdom: Bullet For My Valentine and Asking Alexandria. Both bands have never performed live in the Philippines and each has millions of fans across the globe. PULP SUMMER SLAM 14 will also see the first performance of thrash metal legends Kreator and new Japanese metal sensation Crossfaith. Returning for the second time are hardcore favorites Hatebreed and melodic death metal maniacs The Black Dahlia Murder. And for the third time on the back of one of the greatest metal album releases of 2013, “The Dream Calls For Blood”, Death Angel will once again flatten the denizens of the Slam with their distinct brand of Bay Area thrash metal.

Supporting this heavy international line up are seven local bands bearing the pride of Philippines’ underground music scene. NU Metal band from Cardona Rizal, Galaw Tao, will be opening the set. This will be followed by female-fronted Melodic Death/Thrash Metal band Voice of Tranquility, which is performing for the second time in the PULP Summer Slam Stage. Following them is Metalcore band all the way from Davao – David vs. Goliath, followed by Laguna’s metalcore band Embercore. Opening for the first international act is Metal/Hardcore band from Manila, Sickpig. Taking over the stage towards the end of the festival will be Cavite’s Metal/Hardcore band Sucketseven, and finishing this year’s Slam is Grindcore Metal band from Quezon City, Tubero.
