MANOSCA. Tops singing tilt for seniors

Rafael Barbadillo, office employee: “I commend ‘Showtime’ for its ‘Stars on 45’ segment. I don’t usually watch noontime shows, but when I chanced upon one of its grand finalists, Haydee Manosca, singing Beyoncé’s ‘Listen,’ I was hooked—as were the judges. She ended up bagging the top prize—and is proof positive that genuine talent has no age limit!”

Other notes:

Mikka Garcia: “I felt sad when ‘My Husband’s Lover’ folded. How about a Book Two? Perhaps they can develop a light comedy-drama in the mold of the movie, ‘Pusong Mamon.’ Better yet, why not remake ‘Pusong Mamon,’ starring Dennis Trillo, Tom Rodriguez and Carla Abellana?”

Elena Angeles, housewife: “Many winners of our singing contests end up being mere flashes in the pan, because they don’t really get the help they deserve to sustain their newfound popularity. I hope producers can help them rise and shine further.”

FEATURED STORIES

Glorina Sunga, nurse: “I am no prude—but, did ‘Startalk’ really have to replay a video clip of Janine Gutierrez kissing an unconscious Elmo Magalona several times to prove that the two are lovers? I was having afternoon merienda with my 4- and 8-year-old kids, they were ‘bothered’ by what they saw—and I had to hastily switch channels!”
