It is high time the spotlight be focused also on our indie bands and acts. They form a deep well of diverse and amazing talents in the local scene. I will be showcasing once in a while an indie band or act that to my mind deserves a look and more attention. So below, let’s get to know Halik ni Gringo:

What is the origin of your band? Please give a brief history on how you came together to form your band.

FEATURED STORIES

JOEY SANTOS: We started out as grade school classmates. Today, we’re members of several footy clubs and we regularly schedule weekly scrums.

What are the band’s musical influences?

JOEY SANTOS: Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys, Klaxons, The Prodigy.

 

Can you describe your style of music to the unfamiliar?

JOEY SANTOS: Music for group m********** and roman baths.

What do you think of the current local scene?

JOEY SANTOS: It’s very nice and friendly, especially when we have trade fairs and bake offs that result in our annual Peach Melba Cobbler winning first place.
