OPM takes center stage in NYC concert

A concert that serves as a musical tribute to composer Cecile Azarcon’s timeless Original Philippine Music (OPM) pop songs from the last 35 years will be mounted in New York’s Symphony Space on April 27. Azarcon’s love songs such as “Even If,” “I Think I’m In Love,” and “How Did You Know,” will be rearranged by musical director and arranger Lorrie Ilustre, and  interpreted by Sounds of Manila, a band that produces a retro “Manila sound.”

Absolute Play at ‘UE Padayon’

The University of the East University Student Council (UE USC) will stage a music event today dubbed “UE Padayon,” aimed at celebrating the end of the schoolyear. The festivities, which includes a battle of the bands, will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the UE Theater in Manila.

Guest performers are the student members of  Absolute Play. Proceeds from the bands’s album sales will help start a scholarship program.
