Chito Miranda gives up smoking

MANILA, Philippines—Rock band vocalist Chito Miranda has given up smoking to pursue a longer tenure in the music industry.

In the Facebook page of his band Parokya Ni Edgar, Miranda posted a photograph of his hand after undergoing an executive medical check-up in St. Luke’s Medical Center with his bandmate Darius Semaña.

“Goodbye cigarettes, it’s been fun but health is wealth,” Miranda said in the caption.

Miranda said that he and Semaña were in “pretty good shape” but he was advised to take care of his lungs and throat if he wants to continue performing with the band.

“I love smoking, but I love playing in a band more,” said Miranda is the frontman of his 20-year-old band.
