Martin’s songs through the decades

NIEVERA: Bravo!

I’ve watched Martin Nievera concerts so many times and I must say his “3D: Tatlong Dekada (The Repeat)” on Friday at the Big Dome tops them all.

The Concert King was in his element. My heart ran through the whole gamut of emotions as I listened to him sing hit after hit. Since I’m a close friend of Martin’s and his ex-wife Pops’ (Fernandez), I’m privy to their whole love story since Day One. So I read a deeper meaning into Mart’s every song. Though they did not love happily ever after, I know that the Concert King will never get tired of singing ballads to keep our hearts believing that love can last.

His rendition of “The Prayer” (a duet with singing star Fitri Cerado) and “Our Father/I Believe” for the “Yolanda” survivors thoroughly moved me.

FEATURED STORIES

To lighten things up, he gamely posed for pictures while mingling with the crowd as he sang. He didn’t miss a beat or a punchline. Mart has a way of catching the undivided attention of his audience.

He showed us what’s it like to make honest-to-goodness music for three decades sans special effects and tech magic. Maybe that’s why he has lasted this long in the biz. After the fanfare died down, his voice still didn’t falter.

Bravo, Mart! You are the sum total of all your hits and the memories that come with each song. We are indebted to you because your songs have helped us bear the unbearable and made us relish the joys of love.

Detox time

The “in” thing among celebs these days is to go organic and to detox. Since I’m a lunar-powered Vodka Queen, it’s a welcome breather to try healthy living for a change. Thanks to Detoxify Bar (Techno Plaza 2 Eastwood) for making it possible  (www.detoxifybar.com/delivery).

The Minty Berry Detox Juice is my new drink of choice. Some of the bar’s celeb clients are Solenn Heussaff, Aubrey Miles, Lovi Poe, Francine Prieto, Diana Zubiri, Ara Mina, Regine Tolentino, Jennylyn Mercado, and Barbie Forteza. Male celebs regulars include Troy Montero, Luke Mejares, DJ Durano, Jed Madela, Will Devaughn and some PBA players.

Their healthy yet yummy meals and drinks are staples in my ref now. Mariel Rodriguez is so into healthy eating that she has created an Instagram account (organicaholic_mariel) where she posts her organic dishes, concoctions and finds.

“Aside from helping farmers, you get to live a  chemical/pesticide-free life,” she points out. “You’ll live longer. If you can afford expensive clothes, why not invest in your health?” That’s the magic of Organic!

Viral love

The trailer of Andoy Ranay’s “When the Love is Gone” has gone viral, with over a million views in just three days. If you can’t have enough of the teaser, catch the Viva movie on Nov. 27. The  movie theme is by Filipino-American Jason Farol, runner-up in the US contest “Duets.” US screenings start on Dec 6. The cinemas will definitely be full of Pinoy romantic fools that day.
