Eugene Domingo, star of “Status: It’s Complicated” and best actress in the 26th Tokyo International Film Festival (for Jun Robles Lana’s “Barber’s Tales”), talks about the art of acting: “I make sure that the roles and characters I take on are something I haven’t done before, or something I haven’t done recently. I avoid being in the same genre over and over again… If I feel that the timing is right, and the role is something new for me, I’ll do it.”

On filmmaking: “Filmmaking is selfless. It’s there to entertain, express emotions and to enlighten. Hindi naman puwedeng award-winning lang.”

On accepting film projects: “I’m blessed that I get to experience the best of both worlds. It doesn’t matter if you’re doing a mainstream or an indie film. What’s important is for Filipinos to start watching more local films in order to boost Philippine cinema.” Allan Policarpio
