Monchot’s passions

THE CHEF’S paintings will be featured in “Artmoves.”

Looking at Monchot Ongsiako’s calm and smiling face makes people think that the guy goes through life unruffled. Being a chef, he is passionate about cooking. So, when he encounters some “bumps” at work, he lets off steam—by painting.

Monchot is a watercolorist whose favorite subject is water in its calm and serene state.

His artistic output belies his dedication to his chosen profession, being a graduate of a culinary school in California. His roast beef is to die for—it’s well-cooked inside and lightly crisp outside.

FEATURED STORIES

Watch Monchot, the chef and watercolorist, whip up some of his best works in “Artmoves,” a group exhibit featuring dynamic artists on Oct. 25-28 at LRI Art Pavilion, LRI Design Plaza, 219 Nicanor Garcia st., Bel-Air II, Makati City.

Participating artists include Kuh Ledesma, Roland Santos, Katrina Pallon, Jethro Jocson, Vinson Yap, Evie Roque—and I will be collaborating with Bobby Nuestro for our Batanes series.

Meanwhile, in celebration of Philippine Design Week from Oct. 13-22, LRI joins hands with Citem for the art exhibit, “Nimbus City,” featuring Wataru Sakuma’s organic pulp art and Jinggoy Buensuceso’s sculptures.
