SARAH Geronimo wants to take a course in music production someday.

Singer-actress Sarah Geronimo would sometimes feel slighted by comments of “The Voice of the Philippines” fellow coaches Lea Salonga and Bamboo Mañalac but said she understood that they were all part of the show.

“I admit that their comments hurt me sometimes pero gustung-gusto ko ’yon,” declared Sarah at her launch as the endorser of the free mobile messenger application KakaoTalk on Monday night.

“At least, I’m getting them (criticisms) from artists whom I really look up to,” Sarah stressed.

She added that she considered their criticisms part of her learning experience. “I learned a lot of things from them. Tumapang ako dahil doon.”

Judges compete

Sarah noted that viewers would love to see them bantering in the show, while admitting that “even the judges compete.”

“We all want the winner to come from our team,” Sarah explained. “Because of my role in the show, I was forced to speak up, to become more opinionated. It has changed me a lot.”

Sarah, Lea, Bamboo, along with apl.de.ap., also serve as coaches in the show.

Sarah, meanwhile, remained tight-lipped when asked about the real score between her and rumored boyfriend, actor Matteo Guidicelli. “Our friendship is OK. That’s the most I can tell you about it. I don’t want to discuss it because I want to be truthful to my supporters the best way I can.”

Love life

The rumor that Sarah and Matteo are dating began circulating shortly after the actor attended Sarah’s 25th birthday party in July. The two became close while doing a show in the United States earlier this year hosted by The Filipino Channel (TFC).

Sarah, during the KakaoTalk event, also promoted the responsible use of social media. “If you handle your own account, you get to read all the comments about you. You inevitably come across bashers,” she said. “I’m immune to it (bashing). If you’re not ready for it or if you don’t feel too good about yourself, then don’t go online.”

Sarah said she made sure to use her social media accounts to promote her recently released 10th studio album, titled “Expressions.”  The album included the first song Sarah ever wrote, titled “Make Me Yours.”

Sarah, who has been in the business for 10 years, admitted that writing her first song took a long time. “I did it because I felt it would bring inspiration and encouragement to my listeners,” she said. “I bared my all in that song. It’s good that I was able to share it with people.”

She continued: “I collaborated with Louie Ocampo—we had a daylong session. He made the music, I did the lyrics. When I heard the melody the words just flowed. It had been very spontaneous.”

Sarah, who helped send one of her sisters to study in Paris, said that going back to school was also something she wanted for herself. “Soon, my sister will be able to find work. I’m excited for her. It will be the fruit of our family’s hard work,” she said.

Weighing options
“I also want to take a break from work but I don’t know yet for how long. I’m still weighing my options. It’s a very hard decision to make.”

The singer-actress is considering taking up musical production abroad. “I thought that since I’m already in this business, I should study to improve my craft. I also want to learn how to play musical instruments,” she pointed out. “At the same time, I want to take up something that’s totally not connected to music. It would be my fallback since I know a career in show biz is not forever.”
