Variety reviews ‘Ekstra’

VILMA Santos thanks fans, her “fellow bit players” and the film’s guest stars.

Filipino filmmaker Jeffrey Jeturian’s “Ekstra,” which was shown at the Toronto International Film Festival, was reviewed by industry bible Variety. Critic Richard Kuipers calls “Ekstra” “an appealing dramedy that pokes plenty of good-natured fun at TV soap operas.” Kuipers praises lead star Vilma Santos, saying the movie is “anchored by a glowing central performance by the Filipino screen queen.” He notes that the Cinemalaya winner is a “fine feather in the cap of veteran helmer Jeturian…a crowd pleaser.” Bayani San Diego Jr.
