After Toronto, Filipino Raya Martin and Canadian Mark Peranson’s “La última película” will be screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival, set Sept. 26 to Oct. 11.

The Vancouver fest website describes the film as a “schizophrenic… madcap-experimental-comedy-fever dream… alternately hilarious, poetic and beautiful… inspired by (and a loving tribute to) Dennis Hopper.”

It is included in Vancouver’s Cinema of Our Time section, which showcases “the year’s most innovative and exciting cinematic developments around the globe.”

The film follows an American director scouting locations in the Yucatan on the eve of the Mayan apocalypse.

It is coproduced by Canana Films, owned by Mexican actors Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna.
