Raymart Santiago ready to dispute Claudine Barretto’s allegations

MANILA, Philippines—Beleaguered actor Raymart Santiago, through his lawyer Ruth Castelo, reacts to the photos presented by his estranged wife, Claudine Barretto, to the Marikina Regional Trial Court on Thursday allegedly proving his violent acts.

Barretto filed on Thursday a complaint-affidavit accusing Santiago of “physical, sexual, psychological and economic” abuse since the start of their relationship way back in 2002. She presented photos of her with bruised marks allegedly caused by Santiago, who is now facing an alleged violation of RA 9262, or the Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004.

“Whatever photos or videos that Claudine has is a matter of evidence,” Castelo said in an SMS to the INQUIRER late Thursday.

“She (Barretto) made allegations in the complaint that she would need to prove. Raymart, for his part, has strong and solid evidence to prove his defenses and we’re ready to dispute all of Claudine’s allegations one by one,” Castelo said.

“We’ll do it, though at the opportune time and at the proper venue. Raymart believes that only the courts, and not the public, can determine his innocence of the offenses charged,” she added.
